Quantity of work performance review

Job standards determine the expected quality of work and quantity of tasks performed, related to a specific position. Small businesses monitor an employee’s job performance by comparing it to accepted work measurements, often at various intervals. Besides evaluation of production, these demonstrations provide employers with opportunities to refresh a worker’s job skills or address behavioral factors.

Demonstrating Products

One way to demonstrate quality of work is through product demonstrations. An employee with the ability to intelligently show and tell how products work to a manager or customer displays skillfulness. Besides proficient demonstrations, the employee should accurately troubleshoot common problems and exhibit a helpful, pleasant attitude. If the job’s description entails customer service, a manager can measure quality by listening to transactions conducted during peak call periods. Quality demonstrations in food service consist of measuring portions, tasting foods and monitoring preparation. Employees need to demonstrate correct procedures when providing customers with information or service of any kind.

Reviewing Sales Records

Sales-related jobs depend on sales records to show an employee’s performance. By reviewing individual sales, the employer verifies that the quantity of work is sufficient, and quantity alone can provide its own measure of quality in sales. Missing sales goals may mean that the employee needs more training. If a manger notices an unusually high amount of product returns or sales complaints, this is indicative of a low job performance. Another way to demonstrate quality and quantity is to compare current sales records to departmental projections or to other employees.

Skills Testing

Administer specialized skills tests to all employees, testing workers according to their job titles. For example, a person working in data entry should undergo speed and accuracy typing tests. Warehouse employees might demonstrate quality work by running a loader or forklift safely. Review safety protocols to verify that each employee follows company and governmental standards. Note any serious infractions. These checks and balances make good tools for showing worker competence.

Performance Evaluation

Employees demonstrate job excellence through performance evaluations. Measuring quality factors such as observing deadlines, using time wisely, finishing work, and using good judgment make an evaluation excellent. Measuring quantity factors such as regularly taking on new tasks and working positively on team projects leads to good job surveys, but ultimately the best measure of quantity is always a job statistic that is tracked regularly. After a good evaluation, an employee has proven he has the ability to exceed expectations and take on new job duties.
